Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. An advance on account of pension was paid to a relative of a former Chinese member of the Corps, who was reported to have been killed in action. It subsequently transpired that the man de- scrted prior to the Capitulation of the Colony. No pen- sion was granted.
Stores Department. Overpayment of wages to a temporary storeman who absconded.
Medical Department, An irrecoverable overpayment in re- spect of Rehabilitation Allowance.
Imports and Exports Department.
Due to a misunderstanding
double payments were made to an ex-Government official who had also served in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. The officer concerned was a Canadian citizen and the Canadian Government did not feel justified in pressing a claim for a refund.
Harbour Department. Overpayment of wages
Harbour Department. Overpayment in respect of overtime paid to a fireman who subsequently deserted.
Public Relations Officer. Overpayment of Rehabilitation Allowance,
Treasury. Payments of rent allowance to re-employed pensioners Refund of these payments up to 30th June, 1947 have been waivod.
Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. Volunteer pay made to an individual who had not been legally enlisted, but had merely been interned in the Prisoners of War Camp instead or in the Civilian Interment Camp.
